A special thank you to the Literacy Council for supporting Inclusion NWT’s Create & Connect event. Their involvement helped make the activity welcoming, engaging, and accessible for participants, while encouraging creativity, connection, and community participation. |
Inclusion NWT brought participants together for a fun and inclusive Create & Connect activity focused on creativity, social connection, and community participation. The event gave everyone a welcoming space to take part, spend time together, and enjoy a positive shared experience. |

| Exploring Buffalo Airways |
Our Inclusion NWT clients had an exciting opportunity to visit Buffalo Airways and experience aviation up close! During the visit, clients explored the facility, toured the aircraft, stepped inside the cockpit, and learned more about what happens behind the scenes in the aviation industry. It was a fun and memorable day filled with smiles, new experiences, and plenty of great photo moments.
Opportunities like this help our clients explore different workplaces, discover new interests, and build connections within the community.

A Snack Out Together |
Our clients enjoyed a lovely outing to share snacks and spend time together. Everyone had a chance to enjoy some delicious food, good conversation, and the company of friends. It was a fun way to get out, relax, and make happy memories together. We’re grateful for these moments that bring people together and make our community stronger. |

|
| Driving Inclusion Fundraising Campaign |
Inclusion NWT continued building momentum for the Driving Inclusion Campaign, which is helping raise funds for safer and more reliable transportation for the people we support. Reliable transportation plays an important role in helping individuals get to work, attend programs and appointments, take part in community events, and stay connected.
A special thank you goes to Pause and Paws Crossing for supporting the campaign through their dog-trimming fundraiser. Community partnerships like this help raise both funds and awareness, while showing how local businesses and residents can come together to support greater inclusion, independence, and participation across the NWT. |

Growing Our Team | In September, Inclusion NWT welcomed Rolf Panela as our new Community Wellness Coordinator. Rolf brings added support to our team and will help strengthen wellness-focused programming, community connections, and the services we provide to individuals.
His role will contribute to creating more opportunities for participation, connection, and well-being while supporting Inclusion NWT’s ongoing work to build a more inclusive community.

Connecting for Employment at CDETNO’s Employment Café |
Employment Café: Inclusion NWT participated in CDETNO’s 32nd Employment Café on Tuesday, September 22, at the Greenstone Building in Yellowknife. The event brought together 126 job seekers and 27 employers and organizations, creating opportunities for face-to-face conversations about employment across a range of sectors. Our participation reflected our commitment to supporting meaningful employment and building connections within the community. |

| National Day for Truth and Reconciliation: Honouring, Learning, and Remembering |
National Day for Truth and Reconciliation: On September 30, Inclusion NWT recognized the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day. We honoured Survivors, their families and communities, and remembered the children who never returned home from residential schools. The day was an opportunity to reflect, learn, and reaffirm the importance of respect, understanding, and meaningful reconciliation in our community. |

| Inclusion NWT’s Impact on Inclusive Employment Featured by CBC |
|
This September, CBC featured Maxie Hayes, a Yellowknife resident who recently started working at Super 8 after receiving support through the Ready, Willing and Able (RWA) program. Maxie continues to receive support from Inclusion NWT, the program’s territorial partner.
His story highlights the difference that employment support can make. Through job coaching, résumé assistance, interview preparation and transportation support, RWA helps people with intellectual disabilities or autism connect with meaningful work while helping employers find suitable employees. The article also featured local employer Satwant Kaur Dhillon, co-owner of Ricky’s All Day Grill, who successfully hired a restaurant host through Inclusion NWT and encouraged other employers to embrace inclusive hiring.
According to the CBC report, RWA has helped nearly 6,500 people find employment across Canada, including more than 450 in the North. With its current federal funding set to expire in March 2027, Inclusion Canada is seeking $50 million in the upcoming fall budget to continue this work. Maxie’s experience is a reminder of what becomes possible when people receive the support and opportunity to contribute their skills to the community.
